Somatic living is life itself speaking to us

Somatic living is life itself speaking to us

Dissociation is more frequently an issue then recognized. Projection (something pretty much everyone does) is a form of dissociation. Disembodiment is the norm. People avoid embodiment because the process can be physically painful… sometimes so acute it’s permanently avoided

Ego anonymous: a practice

Ego anonymous: a practice — I think of my “path” in many different ways. This is something I rewrote to work for me.

The 12 step program didn’t work out for me, but not because of the actual 12 steps which I found deeply inspiring. Unfortunately the people couldn’t deal with what I was up against. Just like most of society. In the world of 12 steps as a young woman I was “the constituionally incapable.” You know the people that even those in the 12 steps label as hopeless. Ha!

Jack Flynn

You don’t know me at all, but I’ve been a reader of your blog (EverythingMatters and then AllSignal) for a couple of months in my search for comprehensive and holistic resources for someone withdrawing from psych meds (in my case I spent all my teenage years on various antipsychotics and sliding deeper into the mental ‘illness’ system, receiving ECT 17x). The resources that you have provided are simply invaluable and the breadth of your work that is as much a work of mysticism as it is a work on the means and meaning of healing cannot be matched anywhere else. I cannot tell you how many nights I’ve lilted into despair only to find reason for real hope by pulling up a couple entries on your blog — if not because of your wisdom and know-how offered, then the strange poetry of the fact that you had taken your pain and loss and transfigured it as in any great work, yours spanning years and deeply moving the lives of many others, I am sure, as it has moved mine.

Life with Tardive Dyskinesia (Lyme too)

I’ve posted a couple of times about having TD. It is an awful debilitating, crippling and disfiguring disease caused by iatrogenic injury. I just discovered the National Organization for Tardive Dyskinesia so I thought I would share. There is very little accurate or clear information about this disease. I have avoided doctors mostly as I’ve not encountered anyone that seems like they would do anything other than harm. Neurologists who treat TD are prone to use psych meds and the MDs I saw mostly shamed and dismissed me as crazy. I did have a psychiatrist who was also a friend diagnose me and it’s very clear that I have TD. I go from being physically okay to being able to hardly stand up in the same day. I suffer from acute and chronic pain in my face, head, neck and shoulders. I am often totally unable to function as a result of this drug injury. I’ve written very little about it because this site was about recovering after coming off psych meds and well, I’ve got my mental health but I am not well. It’s likely I will never be well. My only goal now is to learn how to cope better. As readers of this site know I’ve exhausted all manner of behavioral and lifestyle healing methods. This is not an easy ride. Intro to Ayurveda (for chronic illness, psych drug withdrawal, TD)

I have gone to practitioners but, Ayurveda, at foundation, is about learning to listen to your body and know how to feed it, move it, rest it and take care of it as needed. That is always our job in the end.

I never found a practitioner who could deal with my extreme and multiple issues either. I couldn’t even leave my house for 5 years as I was bedridden. I started these practices on my own at home in my bed. I am no longer bedridden. I am no longer nonverbal.

I still have tardive dyskinesia and I still love Ayurveda with a profound gratefulness as it helped me be in touch with my body. This is good stuff for anyone in life at anytime. …

Buzzing words come

We’re all selfish human beings in training to become the lovers we are as well. The surviving animal must be “selfish.” As we come out of pure survival, the species depends on us becoming lover. Love madly, passionately, indiscriminately. Start with your own selfish self. *** let go. let go. let go. *** In surrender… Continue Reading →

Getting to know herbs (spotlight CBD)

These are relationships. You get to know the plant and how you interact with it. There are times when it’s appropriate and there are times when it is not and this is true for just about everything.

Those of us with these injuries know something about the trickster in just about any food or substance. We have a lot of sensitivities.  I find that most herbs have a sort of polarity in which they may be just what you need today but not tomorrow. And they really do act differently in the body depending on what is going on. All herbs do this in one way or another. Some are much more noticeable than others. …

Radical insights on the physical body

In a world where everything matters, there is no such thing as (just) “psychological”. It’s undersood in yoga, for example, that our “issues are in our tissues.” Unfortunately westerners have totally forgotten this. Ayurveda/yoga is not much better when it comes to daily practice in the world, but the information is there if one needs to find it. I most certainly did…

Trauma is inter-generational. Racism is a trauma that has been with us for many generations. #BlackLivesMatter

If you’re dealing with the trauma in your life and you’re denying racism you’re not really dealing with trauma. Trauma is inter-generational among other things. What white people did to black people in enslaving, murdering and raping them is still in the bodies of every ancestor.

That means the trauma of what we did to an entire population in this country is in the body if you’re black and it’s in the body if we’re descended from the white people who raped, murdered and enslaved the black folk who are still being harmed.

As white witnesses of white supremacist public policies it’s in every white person who has privilege. Yes, it’s in my body too. Own this shit and allow our beautiful black brothers and sisters to heal. Acknowledge that it’s still happening and get started. #BlackLivesMatter
